Affirmation Correction
Some flaws were pointed out to me in this post on affirmations. Specially, this sentence, “If you can't imagine making $1 million in a year or planting twenty churches in your town, then it won't happen.”
That sentence is flawed because I’ve had many blessings in my life that I didn’t anticipate. I’ve been blessed beyond my imagination.
This gets to something important. Yes, imagination is crucial, but it’s only one side. You can’t imagine things into existence from your recliner.
Imagination without action turns into entitlement. It should be more like this: Imagine > Act > Course Correct, and repeat.
Dream big, and then expose yourself to opportunity. There is no opportunity in your recliner.
You can expose yourself to opportunity by providing pro bono value to someone who is further along than you. By saving up capital so that you can act on an opportunity when it presents itself. And by continuing to do what you’re already doing, just with more and more excellence each day.
Dream big, and then be faithful in the little things.
What do you think?
