A while back I mentioned how I focus while reading. In short, I increase my focus by reading actively. And I read actively by anticipating what’s in the book before I open it.
I am re-reading Chris Voss’ NSTD and having been sitting on this phrase lately : “ Assumptions Blind, Hypothesis Guide”. As decision velocity increases, I wonder if people include gut-based decisioning, borne out of deep experience, into the broader assumptions bucket. Most of the so called assumptions may be system 1 (emotional) thinking that indexes low on rationality i.e. unreasonable (and often biased) expectations of the future.

You're on to something. I agree that Voss's assumptions vs hypotheses seem to fit nicely with Kahneman's System 1 vs System 2.
