Be A Consumer-Producer
Consuming well is one of the best ways to thank God. In fact, thanksgiving is impossible unless you’re good at consuming.
Contemplating the goodness of a meal, a house, a car, or anything else is the foundation for thankfulness.
So be a consumer, but don’t just be a consumer. Also be a producer.
A producer contemplates where the meal, house, or car came from. Who made it? How was it made? How did they get it out into the marketplace?
One time I was standing in line at a store after letting the kids pick out presents for my wife. And the checkout line had some really hokey, as-seen-on-TV type stuff for me to look at while I was waiting. At first I wondered, “Who buys this stuff?” That’s me thinking like a consumer.
Then I wondered, “Who makes this stuff?” That’s me thinking like a producer.
See the difference?
This world is chock full of opportunity. No matter where you’re at right now.
And that opportunity reveals itself to people with producer mindsets.
If you aren’t a thankful consumer, start by changing that now. Don’t just enjoy God—also enjoy His gifts.
Next, think like a producer. Imagine how God brought that gift to you and how many hands were involved.
And pay attention to possible opportunities for God to use you to produce something for someone else.
What do you think?
