Coming Face-to-Face With The Gospel
There are two questions that I often ask myself. I’ll share one of them with you today: In what area of my life am I still trying to earn my salvation?
The Gospel is free. That’s the point. We can’t earn God’s favor. God gives His favor freely.
But have I pushed this into every corner of my life?
That’s why I ask the question.
In what area of my life am I still trying to earn my salvation?
I sometimes find an area where I don’t think I need God’s grace. An area where I’m doing pretty good on my own. An area where I’m working pretty hard and I have some merit.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-20 NKJV).
When we come face-to-face with the Gospel, we should hear Jesus’ words above. Rest. An easy yoke. A light burden.
When you hear the Gospel, do you walk away thinking of how you’ll do better next time?
That’s wrong. You shouldn’t feel like your burden got heavier.
You shouldn’t feel that you’ll do better next time earning God’s favor.
You should walk away feeling peace. In the Gospel, your burden is light.
What do you think?
