Don't Outsource Your Agency

I predict that people will make predictions.

I also predict that AI won’t become sentient.

Humans cannot make themselves a god. We’ve been trying to do that since the beginning. The best humans can do is make something in their own image.

That doesn’t mean you should ignore AI. You shouldn’t. You had to learn how to swing an axe, drive a car, surf the internet, etc. And you’ll need to learn how to use AI. But don’t let AI use you. The freeman might outsource a lot of things, but he doesn’t outsource his agency.

Since AI exploded in November 2022, I’ve ask the question, “What does it mean to be human?” Some of my answers so far: humans have personality; humans turn words into stuff; humans think and they even think about how they think.

If you hope AI will become a super intelligent benevolent god that will solve all your problems, you have a slave mentality. If you see AI as competition rather than one more tool you can utilize, you have a slave mentality.

Freemen use technology. Slaves are used by technology. Be the freeman.
