Growth Is Joyful Mourning
You probably know by now, that this is one of my life verses:
“…count it all joy when you fall into various trials…that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4).
Trials don’t take away from you—they add to you. They make you complete, lacking nothing. And because of that you can count it all joy for every trial.
That doesn’t mean you’ll always be happy through the trial. Trials are hard. And some trials are really, really hard. But trials are also the source of growth.
And it’s okay to mourn while you’re growing.
“Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:5).
Because there is joy on the other side.
Some of my greatest times of growth were times of joyful mourning. I was sad to leave something behind, but joyful to receive a greater something ahead.
What do you think?
