How To Maintain Joy In Your Life
“The normal Christian life is a life of joy.” ~Jim Wilson
Do you have joy right now?
You probably remember times of joy. Maybe when you were first saved. Or maybe after a conference or after reading a Bible passage or a book.
But are you maintaining joy in your life all the time?
There is one God and one Gospel. You lose joy whenever you turn from that Gospel. So just turn back to the Gospel and receive your joy again. Even if you need to do it 1000 times in one day.
“This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?” (Galatians 3:2-4 emphasis mine).
The Galatians started out with the Gospel. They received the Spirit by faith, not by works. But after they were saved, instead of continuing in faith, they foolishly decided to live the Christian life by works. And this led to suffering instead of joy.
If you’ve lost your joy, turn back to the Gospel. Quit living by works.
The Gospel doesn’t only get you saved. The Gospel is how you do everything all the time.
