How To Order Your Personality

Your personality should come from your goals. Your goal shouldn't come from your personality (Personality Isn’t Permanent by Benjamin Hardy, 2020, p29).

Back when I was much more interested in personality tests, there was a question that bugged me: What was Jesus’ personality as measured by a personality test?

On the one hand, Jesus was a man with personality. On the other hand, if you could give Jesus a personality test, wouldn’t that put Him in a box?

Benjamin Hardy isn’t a believer, but I’m going to use his quote to help me answer that question. Jesus’ personality was whatever God called Him to do at the time. In other words, Jesus’ personality was obedience.

Don’t try to find your identity through personality tests. Prayerfully consider what God would have your unique goals be. And then obediently shape your personality to match those goals. Not the other way around.
