How To Take Risks

In The Lord of the Rings, before Frodo leaves the Shire, he asks Gandalf, “…what course am I to take?”

Gandalf answers, “Towards danger; but not too rashly, not too straight.”

I often wonder what course I am to take. Should I take crazy risks? Or no risks?

The freeman always heads towards danger. But not too rashly, nor head-on.
