Misers Don't Sleep
“The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, Whether he eats little or much; But the abundance of the rich will not permit him to sleep” (Ecclesiastes 5:12).
Work is good for you. Good work helps you sleep.
Notice that the laboring man might be poor (“eats little”) or he might be wealthy (“eats…much”). That doesn’t matter. What matters is that he works. He’s productive.
But something happens if you switch from production to conservation. If you hoard instead of create, your focus turns to the riches themselves instead of enjoying God’s gifts. Misers don’t sleep.
They are like dragons who always sleep with one eye half open—obsessed with protecting their treasure.
