Should Public Schools Teach Kids About Money?

I spoke with an aspiring entrepreneur once who decided to home school her kids.

One of the reasons was because the public schools don’t teach anything about finance. And even if they do, it wasn’t the kind of finance that an entrepreneur should know.

I applauded her decision to home school her kids.

But I also said that I was happy that public schools didn’t teach finance. And that I hope they never do.

She was shocked why I would say that. Isn’t more education better than less education?

I don’t think the government should use public schools to brainwash our kids at all, but with regard to finance specifically: Why in the world would I want the people who print the money to teach kids about finance?

Why would I want robber barons grooming kids so that they’re easier to steal from?
