All growth increases your responsibility. Gaining wealth is one form of growth. Therefore, gaining wealth increases your responsibility.
Imagine a regular guy who clocks out of work, goes home, and spends the evening sitting in his recliner watching sports and drinking beer in his underwear.
Then he looks out his window and sees a wealthy man’s house on the hill.
The regular guy might imagine how the wealthy man probably gets to clock out even earlier and spend even more time sitting in an even more expensive recliner watching more channels and drinking better beer in underwear made of the finest materials.
But the wealthy man probably isn’t doing any of those things.
I’m not saying drinking beer and watching sports is wrong, and I’m not saying increasing your wealth always means you grow for the good.
I’m saying if you want a different outcome, you need a different input.
If you want to be wealthier than you are right now, you probably need to become a different person than you are right now.
What do you think?

Hi Joe! I really enjoy reading and sharing your newsletter with my boys! We’ve often told our kids a version of “Responsibility begins with making your bed and putting on your pants.” This holds true regardless of your net worth! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
