The Faith Of Moses
“[The LORD said to Moses,] ‘Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.’
“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’
“So He said, ‘I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain’” (Exodus 3:10-12 NKJV emphasis mine).
I love the sign the LORD gives Moses. Moses is unsure he should be the one to bring Israel out of Egypt. After all, Moses already tried it once. And ended up fleeing for his life (Acts 7:23-29). But this time Moses gets a sign.
How does Moses know God will use him to do this great thing? Because God gives him a sign. What’s the sign? That God will use Moses to do this great thing.
In this same conversation, God tells Moses His Name is I AM WHO I AM (Exodus 3:14). The I AM WHO I AM tells Moses the Exodus will succeed because the Exodus will succeed.
I love that.
