The More You Know
The more you know, the more there is to know.
I believe that’s true for other things, too. The more you enjoy, the more you can enjoy. The more weights you lift, the more you can lift (although this one has its limits).
I came across an example that illustrates this well. (I believe I learned it from R. Nelson Nash, but I can’t find the quote.)
Imagine that the surface of your dining room table represents all the knowledge that exists in the universe. Now put a dime in the center of the table. That dime is everything you know. The circumference of the dime is where your knowledge touches what you don’t know yet.
Now replace the dime with a dinner plate. Your knowledge has grown from a dime to a dinner plate. The circumference has also grown. As your knowledge grows, so does your awareness of how little you know.
Since we have an infinite God, we could always get to know Him more. And the more we know Him, the more there is the know.
What do you think?
