They Don't Pay Me Enough
A number of years ago, before I was married, I remember hearing some coworkers say, “They don’t pay me enough to do that.”
I don’t believe I ever said that myself. But whether I did or not, I do remember when I decided to reframe it to this, “They’ll pay me more if I do more.”
Instead of waiting until after I got a raise to increase my production. I would first increase my production and then I would wait for the raise.
I was only at this particular job for ten months, but in that time, I increased my pay by 25% and became one of their leads.
I’ve found that this lesson works in other areas of life, too. In my marriage, I make sure I act first, instead of waiting for my wife to act first. The same thing with raising my kids.
Don’t expect the car to move before you put in the fuel.
What do you think?
