When You Need More Than Understanding
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV).
Don’t be anxious. Instead let your request be made known to God by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. This is so strange and wonderful to me.
I’m not supposed to make a request and then wait and wait and wait, and then thank God for the outcome. I’m supposed to thank God while I’m making the request.
And if I do this, then I receive the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding.
Why do we so often believe understanding will relieve our anxiety? Especially when it only makes us more anxious? Did you know that the peace of God surpasses all understanding?
Make your requests with thanksgiving.1 And rather than drive yourself crazy trying to understand every nuance of your anxiety, simply enjoy the peace of God.
What do you think?
