Your Heart Comes Out Your Mouth
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45 NKJV).
How you react says a lot about you. Pastor Jim Wilson used to say that a cup full of sweet water can’t spill bitter water no matter how hard it’s jostled.
If you have good treasure in your heart, you’ll bring forth good. If you have evil treasure in your heart, you’ll bring forth evil. Out of the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks.
Have you ever met someone who reacts with joy even in the midst of trials? Have you ever met someone who is actively looking for what’s wrong with the world even in the midst of blessings?
Have you been one or the other?
You can’t control your mouth. Your mouth simply reveals what’s in your heart.
Confess your sin to God and to your neighbor (if appropriate). And start storing up good treasure in your heart by walking in the Spirit.
What do you think?
